About AFE

A Special Welcome from Chairman Dan Bittel, CPE

Facilities engineering, management and maintenance are complex fields. They involve a wide array of trades, codes, and so on. Maintaining a strong working knowledge of all facility-related "best practices" is a very hard task — made harder by constant changes in technology and regulations.

On any given day in our work week you need to be a diplomat, cost controller, psychiatrist, leader, motivator and trainer. You have to be logical, organized and articulate.

The buck stops with you when it comes to all things involving your employer's work environment.

How do you keep up? The Association for Facilities engineering was established over 50 years ago for this exact reason. We offer all members many avenues to gain the resources that you need, to help make you a successful facilities support person. We are the only association that includes and supports all facilities disciplines and all areas of responsibilities. The others only deal with their one chartered discipline.

Our newly redesigned web site empowers you with access to both technical resources and professional colleagues. Plus, you can apply or register for all our valuable programs, renew your membership, recertify your AFE credential (Certified Plant Engineer, Certified Plant Maintenance Manager or Certified Plant Supervisor), find out what's happening in your region or at your local chapter, and even get the contact information for AFE's Board of Directors and staff.

Remember, as a facilities professional you are not alone! AFE is here to help. I encourage you to look around our site for more details.
