Regional Vice President
OBJECTIVE
The following is a summary of the rights and responsibilities of an AFE RVP, as outlined in the AFE Board of Directors Policies and Procedures Guide.
The key to success of an RVP is to carry out the tasks of the position, using the many resources available to him/her for that task. RVPs are responsible for the good management of a set geographical region, and the Chapters and members within that set area.
His/her prime responsibility is to represent the Chapters and members of that region on the Committee of Representatives and as a member of the House of Delegates; to support AFE’s objectives, plans, programs, and policies; and to provide support for elected officers in carrying out their duties and responsibilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The RVP is the chair of the regional Council/Board, and surrounds him/herself with leaders who will assist in the drive to:
- Be the conduit of communications between the membership, the Chapters, the AFE Board of Directors, and the greater AFE
- Manage the region with fiscal care
- Foster the growth of AFE
- Promote AFE-sponsored programs such as certification courses in the Region
- Provide outreach and awareness of AFE
Although regional organization structures differ, within three months of being elected the RVP is expected to organize and administer a Regional Council or Board consisting of:
- Regional Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Membership Director
- Group Directors
GOALS 2011
- Meet (physically or virtually) with all Chapters annually
- Grow chapters by 2 annually
- Expand region by 200 members (in conjunction with Membership Committee)
- Ensure 2 certification classes are undertaken within the region annually
- Train (or have trained) all Chapter Leaders in preparation for 2012 leadership positions
Additionally
- The RVP serves on the CoR (Committee of Representatives) and may be assigned to special committees or perform other duties as required by the AFE President.
- As a member of the CoR, participates in the election of 3 CoR members to the AFE Board of Directors, elected from and by the CoR – to represent the CoR and its constituent parts.
- The voting members in a specific region elect the RVP.
- RVPs are elected to two-year terms and may stand for re-election
