Aside from the laboratory‘s personnel, its instrumentation is its most
important tangible asset. As laboratory operations are extremely complex
and instrumentation requirement profiles constantly change, the required
skills to properly manage those assets cannot be underestimated. Making
the proper decisions how a laboratory‘s instrumentation will be managed
throughout their lifecycle can determine the success of the business and
whether needed drugs, products, innovation and cures get to market. Asset
management needs to align with the lifecycle of the laboratory, viewed as
an arc of its maturity and the corresponding requirements to properly
manage those assets.

Join us on the AFE SmartTEAM LMS and Zoom for an educational and networking opportunity you will not want to miss!

For more than a century, the Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE) has led the way in providing educational resources and professional tools to active and emerging building maintenance, facilities management and construction professionals around the globe. The AFE Founders Day Reception, our premier annual networking event, not only celebrates that legacy but also provides an opportunity for our Members and guests to broaden their personal and professional networks plus explore new business opportunities. This year, Founders Day 2020 has expanded to include a half day conference plus a silent auction to benefit the AFE Foundation.

Since 2019, the Founders Day Reception has become an opportunity to recognize an individual whose work in the FM space embodies the same spirit that inspired Harry S. Dennison and E. B. Freeman to plant the seeds that spurred the formation of the Plant Engineers Club in 1915, which eventually grew to become the American Institute of Plant Engineers (AIPE) and finally matured into AFE. So, it was fitting the AFE Founders Award should be renamed for the late, great Fred W. King, humanitarian and long-time AFE leader on both the local and national level. Fred King not only modeled the principles underlying the intent of this special recognition through his many personal and professional accomplishments, but Fred also paved the way for scores of emerging FM professionals throughout the State of Minnesota and beyond to experience growth in their careers and make lasting contributions of their own to the industry. Therefore, The Fred W. King Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an AFE Member who has made an indelible mark on both the built environment and community-at-large.
